Which EBC pad for my car?

The right EBC compound depends on how you drive — not just the make on the badge. Use this guide, then call and we will confirm fitment for your vehicle.

Start with how you drive

Bring the rego or VIN when you book. We check the EBC catalogue for your exact pad shape, then match the compound to daily kilometres, dust tolerance, and whether the car sees hard road use or track days.

Full compound notes also live on our car brakes page.

Which pad for my car?

Mostly commuting / family use — not driven hard

Quiet everyday pad with strong cold bite, lower dust and kinder rotor wear than a typical semi-metallic OE-style pad. ECE R90 approved. Skip Ultimax if you regularly drive hard or go on track.

Spirited street on a modest car, hot hatch, SUV or classic

Entry performance with more bite and better fade resistance than stock. Loyal following on small hot hatches and classics. Not for high-power cars that load the brakes hard, and not for track use.

Clean wheels matter most (dust is the priority)

Ceramic low-dust pad for daily driving and normal street use. Popular on Commodore and Falcon. Do not choose Redstuff as a “performance” pad for modified or hard-driven cars — it can fade when pushed; use Yellowstuff instead.

Performance street, tuned car, or light track days

The all-round pick for higher braking performance with less dust than most OE pads. Suitable for light track use. Our usual recommendation when Ultimax or Greenstuff are not enough.

High-power street car that also does track days

Hybrid fast-street / track-day compound with strong fade resistance while keeping usable road manners. Ask us if you need dedicated race compounds (EBC Racing RP / SR lines).

Quick rules of thumb

  • Daily driver, keep it simple: Ultimax.
  • Want less dust on a road car: Redstuff — if you do not drive enthusiastically.
  • Want real performance on the road (or light track): Yellowstuff — not Redstuff.
  • Hot hatch / classic that is fun but not a track weapon: Greenstuff can still be right; call if the car is heavily modified.
  • Serious power and track days with street use: Bluestuff.

When Greenstuff and Yellowstuff are both options, Yellowstuff is usually the better value step for a performance-minded driver.
